PRIVACY AND SUPPORT
Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 July 2026
Traffic Weather does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information to the developer or to any third party. There are no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no accounts. Your configuration stays on your own devices and, optionally, your own private iCloud.
The single exception is the optional Send feedback form: if - and only if - you choose to type a note and tap Send, that note is transmitted to us. It is anonymous, and what's sent is described in full below.
What the app stores
The app stores only the settings you enter:
Camera list - the names and image URLs of the cameras you add.
Camera logins - if you add a private IP camera with a username and password, the username is stored with the camera and the password is stored in the device Keychain. Passwords are never written to iCloud and never leave the device.
Weather location - the town or coordinates you choose.
Display preferences - units, radar source and range, slideshow settings.
This data is held in on-device storage and, if you enable iCloud, in your private iCloud key-value store, so your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV stay in sync. It is stored under your Apple ID and is not visible to the developer.
Feedback (optional, and only if you use it)
Settings includes a Send feedback form. Nothing is sent unless you type something and tap Send. When you do, exactly three things are transmitted:
Your note - the text you typed, up to 280 characters.
Platform - "iOS" or "Apple TV".
App version - for example "1.5.0 (14)".
That is the whole message. There is no name field, no email field, and no reply address, and the app does not attach your location, your camera list, your settings, an account, or any device or advertising identifier. The form shows you the exact text of the message before you send it.
Because there is no reply address, feedback is genuinely one-way: we can read it, but we cannot write back or connect it to you. Notes are deleted from the server once they have been read, and in any case within 30 days.
Your device's IP address reaches our Cloudflare Worker as part of the network request, as it would with any internet request. It is not stored with your note; a short-lived one-way hash of it is used only to stop one connection flooding the form, and that hash expires within the hour.
Network connections
To function, the app requests data directly from these services. No personal data is sent to them beyond the standard network request (your device's IP address, as with any internet request):
Camera images - from the URLs you configure (e.g. Queensland Traffic public cameras, or your own IP camera).
Weather - Open-Meteo, for forecasts by coordinate and location search, and its historical archive for the "this time last year" line.
Radar - the Bureau of Meteorology and/or RainViewer, with base-map tiles from CARTO and OpenStreetMap.
News headlines - ABC News and SBS News RSS, when the news ticker is enabled.
Camera browser - the Queensland Traffic webcam list, when you use the "Browse QLD cameras" picker.
Optional ticker sources - Queensland Traffic alerts, Queensland fuel prices, Geoscience Australia earthquakes, state fire services' bushfire warnings, Wikipedia "on this day", ISS pass times, and NOAA aurora forecasts, each only when you switch that line on.
Aircraft overhead - adsb.lol for aircraft positions and hexdb.io for route lookups, only when the aircraft strip is enabled (it is off by default).
Ships offshore - AIS vessel positions via our own proxy, for the Apple TV map card.
Feedback - our own Cloudflare Worker, and only when you tap Send.
The app uses no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Local network access
If you add a private IP camera on your local network, iOS/tvOS will ask permission to access devices on your local network. This is used only to fetch that camera's snapshot image from the address you entered.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone. The feedback form collects only free text that you choose to type, with nothing identifying attached.
